Bellenden developed an issue-led communications programme in preparation for UK Youth’s Vision not Division conference in November 2009. The aim was to raise the profile of UK Youth and position the organisation as the thought leader on non-formal learning in the UK.
The programme included a trade and national media campaign as well as the launch and management of a blog. Bellenden also organised a conference in London on UK Youth’s Youth Achievement Foundations.
As a result of our media strategy, UK Youth received coverage in nationals throughout the year including Guardian, Times Online, BBC News Online, Times Education Supplement and high profile pieces in the major trade publications including Children and Young People Now, Teachers’ TV, 14-19 Skills Bulletin, and Local Government Chronicle. UK Youth’s blog also hit over 1,000 views during the conference and on Twitter UK Youth peaked over 150,000 twitter impressions.
“Bellenden was instrumental in helping us establish UK Youth as a leader in non-formal learning amongst political and media audiences through delivery of a media strategy which gained national media attention before and during our Vision not Division conference.”
John Bateman OBE, Chief Executive, UK Youth
