Working with representatives from the horticulture industry, Bellenden delivered a targeted stakeholder campaign at the European Parliament on the EU pesticides regulation. The campaign gained champions in both the UK and EU Parliaments and Bellenden’s work with the horticulture industry became the UK Government’s official line on the issue in the EU.
Alongside the Horticultural Trades Association, Crop Protection Association and The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company, Bellenden lobbied decision-makers in Brussels to vote in favour of an impact assessment on the pesticides regulation, and to raise the concerns of the ornamental and horticulture sector as a distinct sector from other areas of agriculture.
Our campaign and stakeholder programme gathered momentum and support in the UK from industry and Parliament via a proactive media strategy and a national political campaign. Within the European Parliament, Bellenden achieved cross-party and cross-national support from MEPs through an aggressive stakeholder programme.
“Bellenden provided in depth intelligence and strategy both in the UK and in Brussels which raised the profile of our call for an impact assessment on the EU pesticide regulation. Their work on this campaign demonstrates their understanding of national and European decision making and their campaigning expertise.”
